It is official. United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) will be bringing a field office to Nashville in the near future. Read more to find out how you could be affected.
What is USCIS?
USCIS is the government agency under the Department of Homeland Security in charge of processing visa applications, asylum and refugee applications, naturalization applications, and other immigration benefit petitions/applications.
Nashville Field Office
Officers at USCIS field offices adjudicate petitions filed for immigration benefits. Currently all Petitions for Relatives, Permanent Residency applications, and Naturalization applications (among others), are adjudicated at the Memphis USCIS Field Office and all interviews are conducted in Memphis. Once the Nashville Field Office is up and running, all interviews will be held in Nashville, cutting down on travel time and hardship for those in Middle Tennessee.
